The following DVD releases of Ubuntu are available:
If you want to support me, i.e., let me buy new hardware, or just like this service, feel free to donate some money at my paypal account.
The current donated amount is: 105 Euro (Currently left after the first donated hardware upgrade: Euro 41,10). The following people donated money, many many thanks for that:
|2006-12-17||Robert||The Netherlands||35.00 Euro|
|2011-07-29||Ronald (CarOK)||The Netherlands||25.00 Euro|
The first round of donations raised enough money to buy a new harddisk. The report can be found here. In the coming weeks, the new harddisk will allow me to host more Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, etc., dvd image files here, maybe also some cd images as well. And of course, this service will keep running and provides you with the DVD images for free even if you don't donate anything.

Received some great donations, many thanks. Next to that I am waiting for the new Ubuntu version (Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex)) to reach its final state. Also needed to close done, due to uni policy, the DJ Doboy site.
Hardy Heron is here!
Gutsy Gibbon is here! Enjoy & Download; clog the tubes!
It has been some time since the last news update. Since this weekend, the Feisty versions of Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Edubuntu DVD images are available for download. Also the server has migrated to another machine (PIV with 1 GB mem) some time ago, due to some networking problems with the Sun. I think it runs quite smoothly now.
A happy new year to everyone. Over the past few days I have installed the sponsored harddisk (see the report here) and also moved the system from Gentoo SPARC to Ubuntu 6.10 SPARC. Finally the Ubuntu DVD image server runs on Ubuntu :). I hope the new year will be as successfull as the previous one for this server, as we had a staggering 70.5 Tera Bytes of outgoing Ubuntu DVD image data!
Robert from The Netherlands donated 35 Euro! Again, many thanks for this very generous donation. During the winter holiday I will buy the new harddisk.
Shadi from Japan donated 20 Euro. Many, many thanks for this generous donation. Just a few more donations and a new harddisk can be bought.
Ubuntu 6.10 and Kubuntu 6.10 are now available for download.
I am currently rsyncing to the Edgy Eft DVD's for Ubuntu and Kubuntu. Expect them ready for download in 1 or 2 days from now
Thanks to Bodo from Germany a new 10 Euro donation has arrived, many thanks! Due to my holidays last couple of weeks, I was unable to keep track of the server, and of course, just before my holiday finished the server crashed which causes some down time last week and early this week. My excuses for the inconveniences.
Ubuntu 6.06.1 now available for download
I added some pages with statistics about this server
Received the first 10 Euro donation from Steve. Many thanks for that! I hope more will follow soon :)
This server now is a full mirror of the DVD images of Ubuntu and Kubuntu 6.06 LTS (Dapper) of cdimage.ubuntu.com, including all the additional files like the MD5SUMS.
The DVD images of Ubuntu and Kubuntu 6.06 LTS (Dapper) are now online. All the additional files like the MD5SUMS will come soon.
During the past weekend I switched the Ubuntu DVD server from an old Pentium III 800Mhz machine to a Sunfire V100 with 2GB internal memory. This allows me to provide you with a faster service from now on. Let us thank the Pentium III machine for serving 49.0 TeraBytes of Ubuntu DVD images during the last couple of months and let's hope the Sunfire can continue this huge success!
Happy new year to everyone. In the past year this server had about 28 TeraBytes of outgoing data. There is clearly a need for this service and the interest for Ubuntu is and remains to be very high, which is a good thing. Let's all keep up the good work. I am also very happy to receive some feedback on this service.
The Ubuntu & Kubuntu (except Kubuntu 5.10 PowerPC, hosted at another machine here at the UvT) Breezy DVD images are now availabe for http download! (This server also seeds the Bittorrent files).
I am currently downloading the DVD images of Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy). They will become available this weekend, Kubuntu 5.10 will follow next week together wih all the additional files like the MD5SUMS.
With the release of the new version of Ubuntu (5.10 Breezy Badger) I will have to remove the files of the old versions as my harddisk is too small (does anyone have a spare or wants to sponsor a new one, please contact me). The final DVD images of Breezy are not yet available, but as soon as they become, they will take over the place here and will become available for http download and bittorrent.
Time for a little party. This machine has served 10.0 Terabytes during the last 52 days. Thanks everyone for making this service such a huge success. Keep on downloading!
The DVD image of the Kubuntu Install/live DVD for PowerPC computers is finally completely available for download via http (see here) & Bittorrent.
From the web server log-files it appears that Windows 98 machines with Internet Explorer 5 generate a lot of useless traffic. Try to use a download manager like Getright to fetch the dvd iso's.
Change from boa web server to Apache.
Some browsers like Internet Explorer or Firefox 1.0.x (on some OSs) seem to have some problems when you try to download these these files by clicking directly on them, if it does not work, try save target as / save link as and if required (i.e., IE) change the extension manually to .iso.
The web server is up and running. This server remedies the following problem. It appears that current 'stable' versions (5.04) of Ubuntu and Kubuntu install/live DVDs are not available by http (or ftp) or are at least not easy to find. Some mirros have nightly breezy builds of the dvds online available via http but these nightly builds do often not work. So if you are looking for Ubuntu and Kubuntu Hoary DVDs, this is the place to be.
